Recipes using baking powder
Banana Pancakes
Naturally sweet pancakes made with mashed bananas that add moisture and subtle flavor. Great topped with more banana slices and chocolate.
Falafel Base
The proper Middle Eastern falafel — dried chickpeas (never canned) soaked overnight, then ground raw with onion, garlic and a generous bouquet of parsley, coriander, cumin and coriander seeds. The raw soak is what gives that craggy, lacy texture; canned chickpeas turn to porridge and fall apart in the oil. Preparation time includes a 12-hour chickpea soak and at least 30 minutes of chilling; longer soaking adds time.
American Pancake Batter
The fluffy, diner-style buttermilk-school pancake batter — flour, milk, egg, baking powder and a touch of melted butter. The trick is barely mixing: lumps in the bowl mean clouds in the pan.
American Cinnamon Waffles
Warm, spiced waffles infused with cinnamon and a hint of brown sugar, creating a cosy breakfast with comforting flavours.
Classic Belgian Waffles
Golden, crispy-on-the-outside and tender-on-the-inside Belgian waffles with deep pockets perfect for syrup. A beloved indulgent breakfast treat.
Scotch Pancakes
Thick, spongy Scottish pancakes with a delicate crumb, smaller and fluffier than American pancakes. Perfect topped with jam and clotted cream.
